Automating Translation Management and Multilingual Content Management Using Direct CMS-to-Freeway Web Services Connections

Companies now recognise that their enterprise content is an asset that drives business returns in both efficiency gains and revenue growth. This has increased the focus on how to integrate the numerous content strategies, systems, and processes across divisions to efficiently make that content available globally.

If you have deployed, or are deploying, a Content Management System (CMS), workflow, e-procurement system, or other form of repository to manage your publishing processes, you should consider connecting your system directly to Freeway™ using Web Services.

  • EMC Documentum, EMC eRoom
  • Ektron
  • Interwoven TeamSite

  • Using Web Services to Automate Translation Processes

Lionbridge uses Web Services technology to allow customers to integrate their CMS and other repositories or databases with our translation process. Clients automatically initiate jobs and have content transferred directly from (and to) these systems, eliminating manual processing. The Lionbridge Web Services provide a full range of API calls to consume translation services
over the Internet, including: getting a quote, creating a translation job, sending content for translation, checking the status of a submitted job, and retrieving a finished job.

The Value of Automating Translation Processes

Clients who integrate their content management processes directly with Lionbridge’s Freeway platform have derived significant benefits.

    • Reduced total turnaround time of reaching global markets by decreasing extract and replace time, and minimising or eliminating file management time
    • Improved cost effectiveness of managing content globally and achieving greater leverage of existing Content Management investment
    • Lowered startup costs by removing additional software deployment or ongoing maintenance costs
    • Improved process effectiveness by standardising and automating submission tasks, the tracking and retrieval of translations, and the automatic synchronisation of multilingual content
    • Streamlined technology integration by shifting integration from internal technology deployment to vendor-delivered connection, and embedding translation interaction points directly into existing tools and processes
