Lionbridge Opens Translation Institute in India

Aksharmala is Lionbridge’s response to the challenge of finding an industry-ready translator base in Indic languages, to cater to the growing demand for such expertise.

Robin Lloyd, Vice President and General Manager, Lionbridge India sums it up well when he says, “‘Aksharmala’ is the logical next step in building a mature translation and localisation industry for India. Unlike in Europe or East Asia, there is no ready-made pool of experienced, professional translators for Indic languages. By leveraging our unique intellectual property and global experience, we will train, equip and develop our own network of translators to support the explosive growth of Indic-language content and products.”
