UFIDA Expands Into New International Markets With Lionbridge Translation Services
Chinese Company Further Penetrates Global Markets by Localizing Products and Services into English First
WALTHAM, Mass., September 27, 2007 - Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), a leading provider of translation and offshoring services, today announced that China's largest software company, UFIDA, has contracted with Lionbridge's Beijing global delivery center to localize its U9 enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to reach new English-speaking audiences. By partnering with Lionbridge, UFIDA plans to further expand its international market share and compete on a global scale.
Expanding business into Asian markets has become commonplace; but as China's developing economy grows, there is an increasing number of China-based companies looking to expand outward. Accurate and consistent localization represents a critical barrier for any global expansion. To be considered a truly global ERP solution, UFIDA must deliver a high-quality and well- localized product.

Lionbridge will localize the company's U9 ERP product from Simplified Chinese into English by translating approximately 300,000 Chinese characters. This work will be led by Lionbridge's team in China, made up of over 300 highly skilled localization, development, and testing professionals. The China team will work closely with Lionbridge's global network of in-country translators to expedite the translation workflow in a timely manner. The project will be powered by Logoport™, Lionbridge's language processing system, to enable the project translators to manage translation memories, and ensure language consistency throughout the project.
