WALTHAM, Mass. - February 19, 2002 - Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), a provider of solutions for worldwide deployment of technology and content, today announced that BT Ignite (part of British Telecommunications plc.) has chosen Lionbridge as their lead translation partner.
Lionbridge will take the prime role of translating BT Ignite's marketing and technical content including brochures, web-based content, white papers, datasheets and case studies into key European languages. The partnership with Lionbridge will facilitate consistent brand and product messages while providing customers, employees and stakeholders access to content in local languages.
Alan Brough from BT Ignite's Marketing Services team said, "Although we have appointed Lionbridge as a 'translation' partner the fact is that their role is much more significant. Over and above the need to communicate effectively in other languages, their task is to re-interpret content and ensure that it carries the same integrity, accuracy and cultural meaning (or 'localization') in all of the different languages we use. Lionbridge will also work with BT Ignite to leverage its investment in its existing infrastructure, by integrating localization within the content management process. The volume of content authored within BT Ignite demands a systematic approach, which complements the existing technologies and business processes implemented to support local markets.
To support the localization process, BT Ignite is implementing LionView, a team collaboration project portal, that serves as a central information repository for all participants in the translation, management and approvals processes. LionView enables BT Ignite managers to monitor jobs and access project and budget status in real time.
