Lionbridge India awarded SEI-CMM Level 5 Certification

Attains The Software Engineering Institute's Highest Quality Level Rating

WALTHAM, Mass. — September 30, 2003 — Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), a leading provider of globalization and testing services, today announced that its 750-employee, Mumbai, India-based solution center has attained the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 5 rating. This is the highest possible CMM rating from the SEI, a research and development center chartered to improve software engineering practices.

Fewer than 120 companies in the world have earned a CMM Level 5 rating*, which was awarded to Lionbridge India last week. The CMM ratings are awarded after exhaustive independent evaluation involving analysis and review of software development capabilities, processes and products. The ratings help buyers determine reliable and low-risk suppliers of software products and services.

"This certification underscores the strength and quality of our India operation which will provide a foundation for all Lionbridge solution centers to build on as we continue to meet our clients' technical, geographic and budgetary needs," said Rory Cowan, CEO, Lionbridge. "This significant milestone for Lionbridge India underscores our ability to provide the most advanced, highest-quality solutions that integrate code and content with language and technology.

Mr. Pradeep Udhas, lead assessor for the Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM) from e2e Technologies stated, "Lionbridge India is a vibrant organization with a good blend of youth and experience, they have managed tremendous growth in challenging market conditions by having a clear vision and strategic inputs from the senior management team. There is a solid quality management system that guides the day-to-day work of everyone at Lionbridge India. Achieving Level 5 in the SW-CMM is just another milestone for Lionbridge India in their journey to remain a world-class software and services company."

"As we join a select group of high-caliber organizations worldwide that are at this level of capability and maturity, this certification reflects our continued commitment to providing the highest level of quality for our customers worldwide," said Maurice Haeems, vice president and general manager, Lionbridge India.
