Lionbridge Selected as Finalist for Prestigious American Business Award for Best Sales Organization
Worldwide Sales Team Recognized For Innovation, Integrity and Leadership
WALTHAM, Mass. — May 5, 2003 — Underscoring the excellence of its worldwide leadership team, Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), today announced that it was nominated as a finalist for an American Business Award(SM) for Best Sales Organization. Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" by the New York Post, The American Business Awards are the first national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.
Nicknamed the Stevies™ for the Greek word for "crowned," the awards were presented at a nationally broadcast show at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in New York City last week. Lionbridge was runner up to honorary winners from Dow Chemical and the ultimate winner, Marriott Vacation Club International.
Paula Shannon, Lionbridge Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales commented, "While we are disappointed that we did not take home the Stevie, we are delighted to be recognized as a finalist for this prestigious award, sponsored by Miller-Heiman. As an organization that spans multiple languages, countries and cultures, the Lionbridge sales team continues to exemplify all of the characteristics of sales leadership — a laser-sharp focus on creating new market opportunities, resilience in the face of adversity and above all, a commitment to client excellence."
Almost 500 nominations from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in several categories. Lionbridge's sales organization was recognized for its outstanding achievements in 2002 and the quality, innovation, integrity and growth of the team.
"Overcoming a host of economic and competitive challenges, this outstanding worldwide sales organization continues to establish Lionbridge as a leader in the industry," said Rory Cowan, CEO of Lionbridge. "Being selected as a finalist underscores the quality, commitment and value this sales organization brings to Lionbridge and our customers worldwide."
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie winners from among the finalists. The Board includes business luminaries such as Rich Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes; Bruce Nelson, chairman and CEO of Office Depot; marketing gurus Don Peppers and Martha Rogers; Anthony Robbins, Chairman and CEO of The Anthony Robbins Companies; Drew Schutte, publisher of Wired Magazine; Jeffrey Tarr, chairman and CEO of Hoover's Inc.; and Donald Trump, chairman, president and CEO of The Trump Organization. Finalists were selected by business professionals nationwide during February and March.
"We began The American Business Awards last year when the public perception of companies and business people was at a low point," said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher. "Our goal was to create a showcase for the best of American business, where the people and companies who don't get enough recognition for their good work can be singled out and celebrated. We are pleased that so many companies, large and small, participated in our first year and honor those who make American business the envy of the world."
