Lionbridge Signs Letter of Intent With Imation For Multi-Year Outsourcing Agreement
VeriTest Division To Lead the Industry's Most Advanced Enterprise Storage Networking Lab for Independent Storage Area Network Testing and Solution Development
ORLANDO, Fla. — Oct. 27, 2003 — At the Storage Networking World Conference which begins today, VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies (Nasdaq: LIOX), today announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Imation Corp., a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, to manage and operate Imation's 6,000+ square foot storage networking lab that provides high-end storage network testing services. These storage network testing services enable organizations and equipment manufacturers to develop, test, and evaluate data storage solutions for enterprise deployment.
With more than 150 network storage equipment components from more than 40 vendors, the lab provides independent interoperability testing, performance validation, proof-of-concept, compatibility testing and disaster recovery planning for storage networking solutions. As part of the agreement, Imation and VeriTest would jointly market and sell the storage networking services to their global customer bases.
"Combining VeriTest's testing management expertise with Imation's storage networking lab is an opportunity to broaden and strengthen our VeriTest offering and provide another valuable node in the Lionbridge value chain of global outsourcing services that enable clients to manage their growing volume and complexity of code and content," said Rory Cowan, Chairman, President and CEO, Lionbridge Technologies. "This storage networking lab provides a real- world testing infrastructure and environment that, when combined with VeriTest's proven interoperability, performance and reliability expertise, would provide a complete solution that organizations can rely on to manage their most critical storage area networking challenges."
The addition of the storage area networking lab would allow VeriTest to offer clients independent, vendor-neutral guidance through interoperability, performance, and proof-of-concept testing for their storage networking. The lab offers organizations an opportunity to mitigate risks before implementing a storage network architecture in their own production environment. Customers are able to conduct testing in the lab, or, using remote access capabilities, conduct tests from their own locations.
"VeriTest was a natural choice as we looked for a leader in testing and certification to manage and operate this unique and independent test lab to meet its full potential," said Frank Russomanno, president, Imation's Data Storage and Information Management business. "The Storage Networking Lab will play a key role in meeting customers' increasing demand for proven testing solutions that reduce costs, mitigate risk and increase reliability within complex IT infrastructures."
Located at Imation's headquarters in Oakdale, Minn, the storage networking lab's capabilities include:
- Storage replication testing and performance validation via software and solutions from storage vendors such as EMC, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi Data Systems, VERITAS, XIOtech, NSI Software, and others
- High availability detailed configuration and testing via software and solutions from storage vendors such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Novell, IBM, VERITAS, and others
