Lionbridge Wins International Stevie® Award for Best New Product or Service

Lionbridge’s Advanced, Web-Architected Linguistic Technology Accelerates Time-to-Market and Improves Quality of Global Content

WALTHAM, Mass. – September 9, 2008 – Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) announced today that its market-leading language technology platform has been selected as the winner of the International Stevie Award for “Best New Product or Service – Services” in The 2008 International Business Awards. Winners were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals representing over 30 countries worldwide.  As the world’s largest language services provider, Lionbridge was recognized in this category for its innovative “Linguistic Toolbox,” a component of its Web-hosted Freeway SaaS (Software as a Service) platform.  This advanced language technology speeds the process of translation and improves the quality of multilingual content.

“We are honored to receive the Stevie Award in this year’s International Business Awards,” said Eric Blassin, vice president of language technology, Lionbridge. “As organizations expand into an increasing number of languages and international markets, the challenge of ensuring consistent, high-quality translation also increases.  We designed the Linguistic Toolbox to be the most comprehensive Computer-Aided Revision tool on the market. As a result, customers worldwide are embracing this easy-to-use, flexible language technology to ensure consistency and integrity of their global content.”

Lionbridge’s Linguistic Toolbox provides language professionals with powerful technology to automate numerous quality checks in one step, including the validation of correct usage and consistency of company-specific terminology and style within and across documents.  The technology is highly customizable, addressing specific customer requirements and preferences including style, grammar, terminology, spelling and punctuation.  Linguistic Toolbox also minimizes the risk of errors and identifies missing content during the translation process, which accelerates time-to-market and ensures the quality of the final publication material.

Since its launch last year, Linguistic Toolbox has received wide market acceptance and is currently deployed with more than 140 customers.  It is used to run quality checks across more than 40 languages, including low-density languages such as Hausa, Yoruba, Ibo, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Tamazight and Tagalog.

Lionbridge received the award this week at the 5th annual International Business Awards event in Dublin Ireland.

The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business. Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners at a gala dinner in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, Ireland.  Primary sponsors for the event were Dow Jones and IDA Ireland.

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the Finalists, which were determined by volunteer judges around the world during two months of preliminary judging.
