Microsoft Certified for Windows .NET Server Program at VeriTest Gains Momentum; Intel and Rational Join Unisys, IBM as Program Sponsors
More than 30 Software Vendors Turn to VeriTest for Microsoft's "Certified for Windows" Product Designation on Windows .NET Server 2003
WALTHAM, Mass. - November 19, 2002 - VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) announced the expansion of the Microsoft Windows certification program at VeriTest to include Windows .NET Server 2003. In addition to seeing record demand from software vendors for Microsoft's "Certified for Windows" product designation on Windows .NET Server 2003, VeriTest is expanding its lab sponsorship program with new support from Intel Corporation and Rational (Nasdaq: RATL).
As the exclusive provider of independent testing for Microsoft's "Certified for Windows" program, VeriTest evaluates software products against Microsoft's rigorous industry-leading standards to ensure they meet strict security, reliability, availability, and supportability requirements necessary to achieve the Certified for Windows designation for Windows .NET Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions, in addition to the Windows 2000 platforms.
"With more than 30 enterprise software vendors including Computer Associates, IBM, Legato, SAP and SAS already scheduled for Windows .NET Server 2003 certification at VeriTest, the Windows .NET Server certification program is gaining momentum," said Rory Cowan, CEO, Lionbridge. "Having worked with Microsoft on various certification programs for over ten years, we are seeing unprecedented demand for Windows .NET Server 2003 certification as organizations across the world optimize their applications for the powerful capabilities of .NET."
"We have continued to see strong industry demand since launching the "Certified for Windows" program over two years ago with VeriTest and are already seeing a high volume of commitment to Windows .NET Server 2003 certification from the enterprise developer community," said Bob Ellsworth, Director, Windows Server Marketing, Microsoft Corporation. "The certification program offered through VeriTest gives customers the assurance of deploying applications that have been rigorously tested and validated on Windows .NET Server 2003."
Program Sponsors Embrace New Certification Program
"By becoming a sponsor of VeriTest's .NET Server certification program, Intel is working closely together with VeriTest and Microsoft to enhance the certification program's configuration specification requirements to take advantage of Intel's latest, scaleable and high-performance Xeon™ and Itanium® 2 processors," said Richard Dracott, Group Marketing Director for Intel's Enterprise Platforms Group. "This creates a comprehensive real-world test scenario for applications running Windows .NET Server 2003 on Intel-based servers."
"It's a pleasure to support Microsoft's leading standards-based quality assessment program through VeriTest," said Greg Meyers, Vice President and General Manager, Automated Software Quality Product Group, Rational Software. "Sponsoring the certification program at VeriTest allows us to demonstrate the effectiveness of our tools in conjunction with our customers' products. In doing so, we are providing a valuable proof-of-concept for their entire software lifecycle solution."
"In addition to our highly specialized test engineers, VeriTest certification labs feature the industry's most advanced hardware platforms from our long standing lab sponsors, IBM and Unisys," continued Cowan. "Now, with the addition of market leading test tools from Rational and highly scalable Intel Xeon and Intel Itanium family processors, our Windows certification labs bring the highest levels of technology excellence worldwide."
Certified for Windows testing for Windows .NET Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions will go into full swing in February 2003, in conjunction with the RTM of Windows .NET Server 2003. All independent software vendors who have already earned certification on the Windows 2000 platform are eligible for a special certification migration service - providing them with an easy, cost-effective path to certification on Windows .NET Server.
