VeriTest Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary of Windows Certification and Independent Testing for Microsoft
Microsoft Certification Programs at VeriTest Prove Invaluable to Ensuring Customer Confidence; Growing Microsoft Relationship Reflects Ongoing Commitment to Certification Programs through VeriTest
Minneapolis, Minn. — July 8, 2005 — At the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2005 this week, VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), celebrated its ten year anniversary of the ISV application certification and test program for the Microsoft Windows platform. The "Designed for Windows 95" program, architected by VeriTest and introduced in 1995, was a critical step in ensuring customer confidence in third-party solutions developed for the new Windows 95 environment.
As Microsoft Windows technology has expanded and evolved, VeriTest's strong relationship with Microsoft and with the ISV community has continued. VeriTest currently manages a number of product testing programs on behalf of Microsoft, including the prestigious "Certified for Windows Server 2003" program, and continues to support a number of Microsoft's core business groups: Server Platforms, Windows Client, Microsoft Business Solutions, and Mobile & Embedded Devices. VeriTest plays a unique role within the industry: functioning both as a completely independent testing organization and as a trusted guide for ISVs entering certification processes.
"The quality of products engineered by our ISV partners is critical to our success. Microsoft is committed to ensuring that new Windows applications offer major advances for all audiences," noted Neil Charney, senior director of the Windows Client Division at Microsoft Corp. "We have enjoyed working with VeriTest over the years, and continue to benefit from its program management expertise, flexibility in responding to the industry's global needs, and deep technical understanding of product testing in the Windows environment as we roll out major advances for our customers."
The VeriTest testing programs not only help ensure end-user satisfaction, but open a path for ISVs to form a closer relationship with Microsoft through the Microsoft Partner Program. Tests performed in the VeriTest labs can earn ISVs "partner points" and certify them for higher program tiers. For example, having a product "Certified for Windows" is one of the ways an ISV can earn partner points and attain the "Gold Certified Partner" level.
"The growth of the Windows environment and the entire microcomputer industry over the last decade has depended on customer confidence," said Rory Cowan, CEO of Lionbridge, the parent company of VeriTest. "We are proud that certification programs, operated independently by dedicated teams in VeriTest labs around the world, have contributed to that confidence and have ensured the reliability of multi-vendor solutions for business-critical needs. We look forward to working closely with Microsoft and everyone in the software industry through the next decade, as new technical achievements emerge."
