WALTHAM, Mass - March 19, 2002 - Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) today announced that IBM (NYSE: IBM) will sponsor the high-end server testbeds for the VeriTest enterprise certification labs. VeriTest, the testing business unit of Lionbridge, will use IBM eServer xSeries Intel processor-based servers for its various Microsoft Certified for Windows programs, for high availability and clustering related tests to certify enterprise datacenter applications.
As the exclusive provider of third-party independent testing for the Microsoft Certified for Windows logo program, VeriTest works with companies such as Computer Associates, IBM, Microsoft, SAS and VERITAS to certify applications for Windows 2000 and Windows .NET Datacenter Servers. IBM eServer xSeries servers with Enterprise X-Architecture technology provide high availability and reliability to multi-node, clustered SMP configurations for datacenter users.
"We look forward to working with VeriTest for the Microsoft Windows Advanced and Datacenter Server certification programs," said Deepak Advani, vice president, IBM eServer xSeries. "With VeriTest's rigorous standards, customers can feel confident that applications running on IBM eServer systems meet the demands of today's enterprise-level workloads."
"We have experienced rapid growth in the high-end server market with Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, and the trend will continue with the launch of Windows .NET Datacenter Server. We look forward to working closely with VeriTest and IBM on the Certified for Windows .NET logo program," said Cliff Reeves, vice president of Windows .NET Server Product Management Group.
"IBM eServer systems strengthen the VeriTest certification offering by furthering our ability to replicate environments to ensure real-world interoperability," said Rory Cowan, CEO, Lionbridge Technologies. "IBM's sponsorship of our labs reflects the value VeriTest certification and testing programs bring to organizations that need to ensure reliability and compatibility across platforms."
Because of the structure and breadth of the VeriTest test plan, applications that pass either of the Certified for Windows Advanced and Datacenter Server tests ("Windows 2000" or "Windows .NET Server") on the IBM eServer systems are also qualified to display the IBM ServerProven® and ClusterProven logos.
