At the heart of Freeway™ is Translation Workspace, Lionbridge's SaaS-based Live Assets™ management system. Translation Workspace stores translation memories and glossaries in a secure, central repository and supports many thousands of concurrent users. Translation Workspace enables efficient management and sharing of translation memory systems and glossaries across products, divisions, and functional groups of a company. Lionbridge translation services clients can access their assets in this Software-as-a-Service technology platform as part of their engagement with Lionbridge.

Live Assets and Global Contributors in the Cloud

Unlike other translation memory systems, Translation Workspace stores translation memories and glossaries centrally and makes them available instantly to customers and virtual teams of linguists. Assets from multiple projects and workgroups are easily aggregated to increase efficiency. Translators who have subscribed to the Translation Workspace can access the system via the Internet, and can translate using one of two translation clients. Updates are posted back to the central repository in real-time.

With this advanced, Internet-based architecture, valuable client assets are no longer stored on dozens of machines around the world. Instead, Translation Workspace allows secure, centralized management of translation memories and glossaries, facilitating greater efficiency and consistency in the translation process, and better protection for sensitive data.

Asset Aliasing provides secure, precise access to Live Assets, allowing Lionbridge to control the duration and access permissions of your assets. Asset aliasing also allows Lionbridge to protect the anonymity of clients and their supply chains, such as in-country reviewers. By granting specific access to server-based resources, Lionbridge prevents distribution of your valuable language assets to translator desktops around the world, protecting your intellectual property rights.

Integrated Online Terminology Management

Terminology management is a key component to delivering consistent, high quality translations that require use of approved terms for key concepts. This is especially true in the case of tight deadlines when your team of translators may be working on various elements of a full project simultaneously. To maximize the value of glossaries and ease of maintenance, Freeway relies on the proven linguistic capabilities of the Translation Workspace.

With Live Assets, contributors have direct role-based online access to:
