Enterprise Application Testing

The Microsoft® Data Warehousing Alliance (DWA) program earns points toward membership in the Microsoft Partner Program for ISVs.

By clearly identifying ISVs with robust products, this program creates awareness and increased business opportunities for Microsoft partners who develop software applications based on the well-established Microsoft Data Warehousing Framework.

We test SQL Server-based enterprise applications against criteria which we co-designed with Microsoft. The ultimate goal of the test is to ensure compliance with the Application Specification for Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

In addition to benefits offered through the Partner Program, SQL DWA members will also be eligible to receive incremental SQL Server partner benefits offered through the SQL Server Partner Initiative. These benefits include the opportunity to have your company profile listed on the SQL Server Partners page, enroll in a SQL Server "Yukon" Beta Program, and participate in exclusive Web chats with SQL Server Product Managers.

Program Options

Microsoft has defined four categories of applications that are eligible for DWA membership:

  • Data Warehousing Build and Management Tools (BM) including Extraction, Transformation and Loading Tools (ETL) tools.

  • Query, Reporting and Analysis Tools (QR) any tool that provides end-users with mechanisms for designing and distributing reports, building decision support (DSS) and executive information (EIS) systems or for performing On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) against multi-dimensional databases.

  • Analytical Applications (AA) provide Extraction, Transformation and Loading and Query, Reporting and Analysis capabilities combined with analytics to address a specific user type or usage scenario.

  • Data Mining Providers (DM) utilize the OLEDB for Data Mining interfaces to provide algorithms for mining the data within the data warehouse.

Points toward the Microsoft Partner Program

ISVs enjoy many benefits as members of the Microsoft Partner Program at the Gold Certified Partner level, a widely-recognized, worldwide program for independent companies that provide Microsoft-based IT services and products to corporate, government and small- or medium-sized businesses.

Microsoft Data Warehousing Framework

This framework provides a road map for developing best-of-breed data warehousing, business intelligence and analytical applications on the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 platform.

Pricing and Test Period

Cost per SQL DWA certification test: $10,000, payable to VeriTest. The turnaround time for this test is 2-3 calendar weeks. Once your on-line registration is complete, your payment has been confirmed, and we have received your software (or a way to download it), your product will be queued for testing. (We will make every effort to match the preferred date you indicated during the registration process.) You can expect to receive your test results within the turnaround time listed above.

Note: Re-testing fees for any application which does not successfully complete the certification test will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
