Certified for Windows Server 2008 | Pre-Certification Services
VeriTest Pre-Certification services help you expedite the certification process for the Certified for Windows Server 2008 logo program for your software products. VeriTest will provide you with an analysis of your product’s readiness for the Certified for Windows Server 2008 logo test well before you release your product. VeriTest’s pre-certification report will enable you to correct most logo compliance issues without disrupting your product’s release schedule, allowing you to release your product on schedule, and with the Certified for Windows Server 2008 logo.
We offer a “standard” pre-certification testing service, during which we assess a pre-release version of your product for compliance with select test cases of the Windows Server 2008 Software Test Framework. We have used our years of experience certifying more than 10,000 ISV products for Microsoft programs to select test cases that most likely cause products to fail the official test. A list of the selected test cases covered by our standard service is available upon request.
If you wish for greater coverage of the test cases for the pre-certification of your product than our standard service, we will work with you to develop a custom solution.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Pre-certification testing does not replace the full Certified for Windows Server 2008 logo test. In order to participate in Microsoft’s Certified for Windows Server 2008 program, and qualify for the associated logo, your product must successfully complete testing for the full logo test.
Standard Pre-Certification Testing Service
The test fee for VeriTest’s Standard Pre-Certification Testing Service is US$3,000 per pre-certification engagement. The standard service involves two days of testing, including installing and configuring your application on the test bed. Since the two days for each pre-certification test engagement include setting up the application to be tested, less time will be available for testing applications that take longer to set up than simpler applications. To address this, we categorize applications as Simple, Medium, or Complex, and will run a different set of test cases depending on the complexity applications.
Please note that the Standard Pre-Certification Testing Service does not include running any of the following test cases:

Custom Pre-Certification Testing Service
If you wish for us to include test cases to the pre-certification test of your product beyond those included in our standard pre-certification service, we will work with you to develop a custom solution. We will estimate the number of days required to complete the test cases you wish to have added to the pre-certification test of your product.
Custom pre-certification testing services for Windows Server 2008 are billed at US$1,500 per day.

- Register for pre-certification at VeriTest
Accurately completing VeriTest's Online Vendor Questionnaire ensures that we'll start pre-certification of your product as quickly as possible.
Important Note about the Tracking Number: Upon submitting the online questionnaire, you will receive a tracking number. Write this tracking number on any product media (CD-ROM or DVD) you send in for pre-certification and refer to it in all correspondence.

- Submit your pre-certification package
Required Items
- A feature complete release candidate of your software product with all necessary hardware, passwords, registration numbers and any available documentation. Please note that any code changes that result in changes to the features and functionality of your product may require recertification of your product.
- During the online registration process, you will be prompted to specify how you wish to deliver your software to us. You can deliver your software to VeriTest on media, or by uploading it to our FTP server. Alternatively, you may provide a URL for us to download your software. If you ship your software on media, please include the Tracking Number you received during registration on all materials you submit.
In addition, based on your application's requirements, you may need to include:
- Any third-party software products required to exercise your product's functionality.
- Any unusual or proprietary hardware required for your product which is unlikely to be in VeriTest's standard library, e.g. a specialized 3D video card, a specialized telephony device, a VR headset, etc. These items will be returned to you (at your expense) after a final test result is obtained.
- Any sample data required to exercise your product's functionality. Please clearly label the sample data.
- If your product features a user interface in a language other than English, we need you to provide instructions, in English, to install, configure, and exercise your product for the test. Please note that a surcharge applies for products that do not include instructions in English.
You will receive an email with delivery instructions after you complete your online registration for the test.

- Receive your pre-certification report
Once pre-certification is complete, you will receive your pre-certification report from VeriTest. Because of the testing technique, interim results are not available.
