Windows Embedded POSReady Verification Test
The Windows Embedded POSReady Verification Program targets third-party hardware and software products that interoperate with Windows Embedded POSReady, Microsoft's Embedded Windows XP-based Point of Service product offering. Partners with products that pass verification testing are eligible to have those products included in the Windows Embedded POSReady Product Catalog.
Software Products - What We Test
Download the Test Specification for Software Products (PDF - 207KB)
The Windows Embedded POSReady Verification Test for Software Products is intended to ensure that third-party software applications install and function smoothly on the Microsoft Windows Embedded POSReady operating system. During the test engagement at VeriTest, your software product will be installed on a system running the Windows Embedded POSReady operating system using the installer program supplied with your product. Applications must execute on Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 and perform their primary functions as expected without crashing or causing the user's computer to crash, fail, or function improperly.
POS Device Peripherals - What We Test

The Microsoft POS for .NET Verification Test for POS Device Peripherals is intended to ensure that POS devices are unlikely to cause conflicts with other POS devices connected to the same system. The test is currently limited to the following device classes: MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition), Biometrics, Cash Drawer, Check Scanner, Line Display, Magnetic Stripe Reader, Pin Pad, POS Keyboard, POS Printer, and Scanner.
During the test engagement at VeriTest, your POS device peripheral will be connected to a system running the Windows Embedded POSReady operating system. Your product’s installer or documented instructions will be used to install the Service Object for your device.
A tool will be used to ensure the device properly supports key properties, methods, and events, some of which are common to all device classes, while others will be specific to the device class(es) of your product. In addition, the device’s support for Plug and Play will be tested. Please refer to the Test Specification for POS Device Peripherals for details.
