Standalone Products
The Certified for Windows Vista Test for Standalone Products is open to software applications that install and function on a stand-alone system (with no network connectivity) running Windows Vista. These fees include up to 1 hour installation time to set up the test bed for your application on both 32-bit and x64 platforms in any user interface language (see below) supported by Windows Vista.
Networked Products
The Certified for Windows Vista Test for Networked Products is open to software applications that install and function on a system running Windows Vista and require network connectivity to other systems (installed in our lab or over the Internet). These fees include up to 2 hours installation time to set up the test bed for your application on both 32-bit and x64 platforms, including configuring back-end systems in our lab, or connectivity to systems over the Internet.

Important Note About Re-Test Fees: If VeriTest completed pre-certification of your product, and your product failed the Certified for Windows Vista test because of an issue VeriTest missed during pre-certification, VeriTest will re-test a new build of your product free of charge. This excludes issues that were identified by VeriTest in the pre-certification report, but not corrected in the build submitted for the full test, as well as new issues introduced in the build after pre-certification. The re-test fee for products for which VeriTest did not complete pre-certification, or for fail issues covered by the exclusions listed previously is $500.
Additional Fees
Installation Time The base test, pre-certification, and re-test fees listed above include a maximum amount of time to install and configure your application on both 32-bit and x64 platforms, including any backend elements. There is a $110 hourly fee for additional time to install and configure products (including any required additional products, servers, and network connectivity) for testing. We will contact you after we review your test registration, before we begin the certification of your product, if we believe that setting up your application may require additional time. You may opt to ship pre-configured hardware for backend elements or provide technical assistance to VeriTest in order to reduce installation time and expense.
Application Interface Language The base test, pre-certification, and re-test fees listed above cover certification of applications with a user interface in any language supported by Windows Vista on the condition that installation instructions are provided in English. If you submit a product featuring a user interface in a language other than English without English instructions, you will be charged an additional $200 for the pre-certification test or full certification test pass. Re-tests (that are not free of charge) for applications that do not include English instructions will be charged an additional $130.
Application Suites Individual applications packaged together as a suite are tested and charged as separate applications, each at the standard rate. This applies even if the applications in the suite are not sold as individual products.
This does not apply to small utilities or demo applications that ship with the product under test that are not needed to exercise the product’s primary functionality.
Test Period
The turnaround time for this test is 5-10 business days. Once we receive the required deliverables (please see Step #3 of our Instructions), your product will be queued for testing. We will make every effort to match the preferred date you indicated during the registration process. Please refer to our Instructions for details on submission process and requirements.
You can expect to receive your test results within the turnaround time noted above.
