Meet Lucia Cao
As Waltham’s Sr. Director of Community Management, Lucia has a passion for creating positive experiences for those around her. Whether it’s at work with her team, or at home with her family, she is building community.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
Most of my mornings start with connecting our global teams around the world on various business initiatives, updates and actions to improve our customer service and our community experiences.
In the afternoon, when I have time, I always enjoy checking on with my local team and hearing their real time feedback on the status of pressing projects or finding ways to overcome their challenges. They are a constant source of inspiration for me.
What is your favorite place in your office?
All the meeting rooms in office – With such a global employee base, most of time we can only connect online, so being able to meet face to face is a treat. It’s a great way to connect, communicate and focus on teamwork when you have the chance to meet in-person.
What is the best part of your job?
Changes; initiatives; connection with all cross-function teams.
Community is interwoven in everything we do. It is core to our delivery and our customer service. My team can make a real difference when we drive positive changes internally and externally. We enjoy assisting our community and providing them a better experience by connecting personally with community representative or improving our technological resources. In return, we deliver excellent service for our valuable customers.
What is the most exciting opportunity on the horizon for your team this year?
The new Lionbridge Community job board– This is the # 1 most exciting opportunity on the horizon. It is driven by the force of the entire community management team, as well as many others. We have made great progress deploying jobs on the job board and now we have seen close to 6000 community partners access it. More importantly, it enables us to look into all of our technology infrastructure and reshape us as a truly tech-focused company.

My favorite local saying is…
Meaning: Try your best and leave the rest to God.
A tourist visiting my city shouldn’t miss…
Walden Pond – My kids call this place as “mommy’s playground”. Although it may not be fancy or stunning, it is peaceful and beautiful to visit during any season.
Outside of work, I always make time for…
My kids and family, and any variety of outdoor activities.
The best piece of career advice I’ve ever received is…
The devil is in the details – No matter how difficult the problems or situation may be, if you find a way to break it into small pieces and solve them one by one, nothing is insurmountable.
Team growth, hitting targets and talented leadership make me roar.
