How long have you been at Lionbridge?

I started my career as a financial translator at CLS Communication back in 1998 and became part of the Lionbridge family with the acquisition of CLS almost 5 years ago.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

In my role as a PMO, I manage and support strategic projects at the interface of operations and technology. Most of our projects are very dynamic and demand a high degree of flexibility and adaptability—so no two days are the same. But usually, I spend my mornings following up on action items, working through emails, and preparing for the afternoons, which are often fast-paced with back-to-back conference calls together with my colleagues in the US.

What is your favorite place in your office?

My favorite place in the Basel office is at my desk with its window overlooking the famous Alte Markthalle—an indoor street food market where they serve delicious specialties from all over the world.

What is the best part of your job?

I enjoy being part of a multicultural, international team, and I feel privileged to be working with so many extremely talented and committed colleagues around the globe.

Fill in the blanks:

I speak 3 languages (list them!)

German, English, French—and our local dialect Swiss German.

My favorite local saying is ______, [and it means ______, if not English].

“Verzell du das em Fährimaa!” (Swiss German for: “Don’t tell me stories”)

A tourist visiting my city shouldn’t miss…

Anyone visiting Basel in the summer months should take the opportunity for a swim in the Rhine. There is even an annual Rhine swim day where thousands of people go into the river. This year, the public swim event will take place on August 13, at 6 pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!

My coworkers say my weirdest habit is...

Not sure if my coworkers know any of my weird habits 😉

Outside of work, I always make time for...

An extensive run through the countryside, a good book and, most importantly, my husband and our three kids,

The best piece of career advice I’ve ever received is...

When nothing goes right, go left.

My hidden talent is…

I can turn apples into roses – contact me and I will gladly share my favorite pastry recipe.

Water makes me roar. I am a passionate swimmer, and I love all kinds of sports and activities in and around water. Most of all I enjoy sailing on our little “Emnabolei.”
