Name: Jamie Kennedy
How long have you been at Lionbridge?
I’ve been at Lionbridge for 19 years. I started as a Global Project Manager at a company called Lernout & Hauspie (shout out to folks in Europe!) in 2000, which spun off to Mendez. It was shortly thereafter acquired by Bowne Global Solutions and subsequently by Lionbridge.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
I have the privilege of connecting with people all around the world, so much of my typical work day is filled with conference calls. On those calls we are discussing new features, capability enhancements, and schedules.
What is your favorite place in your office?
My favorite place in the office is in front of a white board or near a blank wall with a hand full of post-it notes. I love mapping out problems and solutions!
What is the best part of your job?
Being in a room with some of the most brilliant minds of the company working to improve our capabilities is the best part of my job.
Fill in the blanks:
I speak 1 language (list them!)
English. I am in awe of all my co-workers that are fluent in multiple languages—especially when they can spell!
My favorite local saying is…
“There is no such thing as a stupid question.”
A tourist visiting my city shouldn’t miss…
Kimball’s ice cream. It isn’t just an ice cream stand; it is an experience.
My coworkers would say my weirdest habit is…
Drinking lots and lots of iced tea. I usually have several Dunkin’ Donuts large size servings during the work day.
Outside of work, I always make time for…
My family. With three kids (two now teenagers), two dogs, and a husband, there is never a dull moment. Weekends find us on the soccer field, in the swimming pool, “playing” gymnastics (I get to participate too!), or on the wrestling mat.
The best piece of career advice I’ve ever received is…
“If you can’t do what you love, love what you do.” No matter the role, there is something to love, something to learn, and a difference that can be made. When you can’t love it, it is time to move to something new.
My hidden talent is…
Finding the joy. Whistle while you work, laugh until your belly hurts, smile and the whole world smiles back.
Finding solutions to problems makes me roar.
