Lionbridge Supports Translation Community through Sponsorship of Rising Star Scholarship at GALA’s Language of Business Conference

Fosters translation community and education through support of Rising Star Scholarship to support student attendance to Globalization and Localization Association’s (GALA) Language of Business Conference

WALTHAM, Mass. – March 15, 2018Lionbridge Technologies, Inc., the world’s most trusted translation and digital communications company, today announced its support of the Rising Star Scholarship at the Globalization and Localization Association’s (GALA) Language of Business Conference being held March 13 to 16, 2018, which awards two translation students with free registration to GALA’s 2018 Language of Business Conference in Boston, MA, and a travel stipend to attend.

GALA's 10th Annual Language of Business Conference connects translation and localization industry professionals from around the globe who represent diverse companies, sectors and specialties. Recipients of the Rising Star Scholarship will be honored during the conference at a ceremony on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. ET. In addition to the scholarship and event ceremony, Lionbridge will also welcome both award recipients to the company headquarters in Waltham, MA, for a tour and face-to-face meetings with the team to allow them to experience a “day-in-the-life” of a translation professional.

The selected recipients of the Rising Star Scholarships include Laura Linares from University College Cork in Ireland and Ana Lucía Lopez Mendoza from Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico. Both Linares and Lopez submitted thoughtful essays in response to a prompt around the impact of new media, such as video localization and eLearning, on translation tasks and methods.
