MT technology is, at this point, standardized and predictable in its abilities. We know exactly what it can do, and how quickly it can accomplish it, in a localization workflow. LLMs, trained for specific purposes, have more nuance and fluency. They’re also more sophisticated regarding making decisions. They may not always be necessary to get the job done. The most robust solutions combine both, delivering translations faster and on a more detailed, perfected level. However, an MT-only solution sometimes delivers precisely the localization a customer needs.
