Ingredients:

  • 4-5 medium apples, peeled and sliced (enough to fill a pie dish ¾ full)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples: Fill a standard pie dish about ¾ full with the peeled and sliced apples.
  3. Season the apples: Sprinkle the cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of sugar evenly over the apples.
  4. Make the topping: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, 1 cup of sugar, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
  5. Assemble the pie: Pour the topping mixture evenly over the apples, spreading gently to cover.
  6. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.

Let cool slightly before slightly. Delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
