Meet Lionbridge Global Program Manager, Jessica Hamel

Name: Jessica Hamel

Hometown/Lionbridge Office:

Brossard, Canada

Job Title:

Global Program Manager

How long have you been at Lionbridge?

4 years

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Every day is full of surprises! I don’t think I have "typical" days in the office 😊 What is certain is that I do a lot of multitasking and the days go by very quickly. I never get bored.

What is your favorite place in your office?

My desk. The part of the office where my desk is located, is almost an open space and I'm surrounded by my team and my colleagues. Everyone is really great, and it makes the working atmosphere very nice.

What is the best part of your job?

Having the chance to generate positive changes and be able to do it with a great team is my favorite part of my role as GPM. I am always looking for the simplest way to solve problems or respond to customer needs. I like to improve process—to rethink working methods and find effective solutions for customers. I also enjoy developing new talent in the team by training new employees, interns or PMs.

What is the most exciting opportunity on the horizon for your team this year?

Many improvements on the horizon will be possible with the deployment of new tools like the Lionbridge Job Board. We're reviewing several processes right now on my accounts to improve the automatization and I can't wait to see the increase in efficiency.

Fill in the blanks:

I speak 2 languages

French (mother tongue) and English.

My favorite local saying is...

“Avoir de la broue dans le toupet”.

Literal translation: To have foam in your hair.

Meaning: To be very busy; to be overwhelmed.

A tourist visiting my city shouldn’t miss…

I don't really like the city. I would recommend going for a walk in the countryside like the Eastern Township or Laurentides. In the fall, the leaves of the trees change colors and become yellow, orange, red---it's beautiful.

My coworkers would say my weirdest habit is…

I almost always put my hair up around 4:00 PM. It's a habit that one of my colleagues made me notice recently. 4 PM is often the time of the day that deadlines tighten and I need find solutions to deliver everything on time. I think that it allows me to think better :p

Outside of work, I always make time for...

Host my family and friends to share a good meal with good wine. I love to cook! Especially desserts!

The best piece of career advice I've ever received is...

If you truly believe in an idea or want something deeply, make it happen. Do not wait for an opportunity to fall from the sky. Create your chance and make it happen.

My hidden talent is...

Making pastries. I even make gluten-free pastries for my sister who is celiac.

Succeeding with my team makes me roar.
