What We're Thankful For in 2018

Happy Thanksgiving from Lionbridge

It’s been an exciting year at Lionbridge, with a new brandnew website, and new connections that we’re building every day.

At this time of year, amidst all the bustle and the busy, we find it’s helpful to reflect on the things that stand out in our lives, for which we’re truly grateful.

In honor of Thanksgiving in the U.S., we reached out to our global pride of Lions on a gratitude quest. They didn’t disappoint.

Here are just a few things the team at Lionbridge is thankful for this year:

“I am thankful for our team, who always goes above and beyond!” – Karen Dawson, VP, Global Brand

“I am thankful that I get to come to work every day and collaborate with customers and colleagues all around the world. The diversity makes our work so rich and rewarding!” – Tracey Feick, VP, Global Operations and Shared Services

“I am thankful for being part of the wonderful journey of 15 years of Lionbridge India – Pragati.” – Mini Philip, Director, E-Learning and GSMI

“I am thankful that I live in a beautiful, peaceful, and safe country.” – Sandra Wendland, Internet Marketing Manager

“I am thankful that the last thing I heard on the radio today was National Book Award winner yoko Tawada saying, ‘Translation gives a book wings to fly across national borders.’ Then, I was able to go to work with the reminder that what we do helps connect people from all over the world. Pretty good for a Thursday.” – Deborah Kadis, Strategic Language Lead

“I’m thankful to work for a company that gives people opportunity to make a real impact, regardless of where you are in the organization, and to work with a team that makes me excited to get out of bed every morning!” – Jake Richards, Recruitment Operations Specialist

“I’m thankful for my kind colleagues, who are always willing to help.” – Mari Olsen, Solutions Director

“I can only quote beautiful words by Violeta Parra: ‘I am thankful to life that has given me so much. ‘Gracias a la vida que me ha dado tanto.’ This year, cause for gratitude includes far-reaching collaboration with the Lionbridge community: Amsterdam, Ballina, San Jose, Mumbai, freelance translation partners, and most of all my language team in life sciences. #OneOperationsPride.” – Vicky Santibanez, Language Manager

“A list (not exhaustive):

  • The Internet

  • Dynamic lighting on the Empire State Building

  • Serendipity

  • People who appreciate puns

  • The chance to collaborate with a bright, hardworking team.”

– Morgan Myrdal, Manager, Internal Communications

“I’m thankful for a great group of people in my office, because they are the reason that my first thought in the mornings wasn’t ‘I’m going to work,’ but rather, ‘I’m going to see my friends again after the weekend.’ And — playing hangman in the office when we come across an interesting/new word in our source files is always a refreshing experience! :)” – Dominika Ponechalova, Language Lead

“Being able to wake up with immense fear frees us up to really live life.” – Jose Herrera, Help Desk Specialist

“I am thankful for my home, which keeps my family safe, warm, and full of love! I am also thankful for my work, family, friends, and good health!” – Nidya Barrantes, Language Services Group Manager

“I am thankful for my career that allows me to be creative, work on interesting projects, and meet a wide network of interesting Lions around the globe.” – Stephanie Carone, Brand Manager

“I am thankful for you, you, and…you, who make Lionbridge a second home!” – Eva Gonzalez-Wise, Director, Language Services, North America

“I am thankful for my family, for work that’s interesting and varied, and for coworkers who thrive on being part of a team.” – Molly Donovan, Head of Content
