Meet the Pride: Silvia G.

Lionbridge Sr. Project Manager

In this installation of our Meet the Pride Series, meet Silvia G., a Lionbridge Account Manager. She’s passionate about her work on the Language Quality Services team, especially its value in the age of AI. She also loves birdwatching in her native Costa Rica.

Tell us about your role at Lionbridge.

I’m a Quality Manager for LQS (Language Quality Services) at Lionbridge. My role focuses on driving quality across a variety of LQS accounts, including a large tech company. I support senior linguists or Language Leads through training in LQA (Linguistic Quality Assurance), AI-related annotation and validation projects, and cross-vendor collaboration initiatives.

I work closely with Project Managers to build a proactive approach to quality. That means identifying potential issues before they become problems, helping clarify gaps in customer instructions, and creating consistent processes that align teams around customer expectations.

A significant part of my work also involves data analysis and reporting, whether through Power BI or customers’ preferred platforms. It’s a role that blends analytical thinking with relationship-building. My success often depends on maintaining strong relationships with linguists, PMs, and customers. It also depends on presenting quality insights through QBRs, ABRs, and other stakeholder-facing reports, always telling a compelling story to our partners.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

One of the things I enjoy most is working with senior linguists. I am a linguist myself, and I genuinely appreciate the expertise they bring. I enjoy building strong, trust-based relationships with them. Working with Lead Linguists creates a very international environment, and it’s very wholesome to see the help they offer each other in our internal forums!

I also speak French. This allows me to actively participate in calls with both customers and linguists when French is the working language. Being able to engage directly in those conversations helps strengthen communication, improve mutual understanding, and ultimately support better outcomes for everyone.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

No two days are exactly the same, which keeps the role interesting. There’s always a balance between operational support, quality oversight, continuous improvement and socializing.

A typical day could include:

  • Responding to emails from internal teams, contractor PMs, customers, and linguists
  • Conducting training sessions with senior linguists
  • Maintaining or updating documentation
  • Calls for streamlining expectations and workflows
  • Occasional requests for language-agnostic reporting or analysis
  • Reviewing and digesting new instructions
  • Supporting teams with process clarification
  • Analyzing project data
  • Preparing quality reports
  • Evaluating opportunities to improve workflows

How long have you been at Lionbridge? What has your career progression been?

I started my Lionbridge journey as a translator on a major account in 2018. From there, I progressed to Editor. I later became a Lead Linguist, overseeing the translation quality of a Spanish Latin American team (not to be confused with a Language Lead role, as the Lead Linguist is a language-specific role).

Over time, I transitioned into the Quality Manager position. My focus expanded beyond language-specific work to include more language-agnostic quality initiatives, process improvement, customer engagement, and project management-related quality activities. It’s been rewarding to grow through different stages of the localization lifecycle and gain a broader perspective on quality.

How have you seen the LQS evolve over that period of time?

LQS plays a critical role by working with pools of highly experienced reviewers who are the final quality guardrail before content reaches end users. With the AI’s rapid growth, LQS’s work has transformed significantly. Traditional quality review remains an important part of what we do, but we now spend much more time on annotation, validation, and machine translation evaluation. It’s been interesting to watch AI reshape the language services industry and to adapt our expertise accordingly.

What is the most exciting opportunity on the horizon for the LQS team this year?

One of the most exciting developments is LQS becoming the primary quality vendor for several industry giants. We have a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of our expertise. We can also showcase the impact that a dedicated, quality-focused partner can have, particularly as organizations increasingly seek support for their AI-related initiatives and evolving quality needs.

What excites you the most about LQS in 2026?

I would love to see even greater awareness of what LQS brings to the table. LQS offers an LSP-neutral model, allowing us to provide objective, high-quality reviews and LQA services across many languages, markets, and content types. (We can review Lionbridge’s projects, too.)

Our team has a unique combination of linguistic expertise, quality knowledge, and adaptability in the face of AI localization. I’m excited about expanding our visibility and impact across the organization and beyond.

Where do you live?

I live in San José, Costa Rica’s capital city. I’m in a very vibrant and centrally located neighborhood.

What do you enjoy most about it?

What I love most about this area is how walkable and convenient it is. Everything feels close by. The neighborhood is filled with great coffee shops, excellent restaurants, and nice parks. It’s a great place to live.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy expressing my creativity through hands-on crafts and music. I love making beaded jewelry, creating personalized decorations that make my space feel warm and inviting, and taking singing lessons to continue developing my passion for singing.

I’m also a birdwatching enthusiast. My dad is an ornithologist, and going birdwatching with him is a huge privilege. Costa Rica has abundant biodiversity and birds, even in the city. I’m blessed with him sharing his knowledge whenever he can.

Finally, I’m an avid fantasy reader. There’s nothing like getting lost in a great fantasy novel. My latest personal faves are RF Kwang and NK Jemisin. Give her Broken Earth Trilogy a chance!
