Case Study: Localization Vendor Consolidation

How a Lionbridge customer consolidated 30 localization vendors, making Lionbridge its sole partner, to localize more content with a smaller internal team

By consolidating 30+ localization vendors into a single partnership with Lionbridge and utilizing Lionbridge’s tech platform in place of its third-party Translation Management System (TMS), our customer—a leading software provider—transformed its localization processes, enabling it to localize more content with fewer internal resources.

The software company selected Lionbridge as its exclusive translation partner for its multilingual content due to our experience, expertise, cutting-edge technology, and ability to provide highly customized localization solutions.

Lionbridge delivered the following language services for the company’s marketing and sales content:

  • Translation and localization for seven core languages and 12 non-core languages

  • Desktop Publishing (DTP)

  • On-Screen Text (OST) production

  • Technology-related work, including:

    • Project management within the customer instance of Jira

    • Web preview in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

    • Connector and Universal File Connector (UFC) integrations for internal applications like Jira, WordPress, and AEM.

By implementing a single-vendor strategy and utilizing Lionbridge’s tech platform, which Lionbridge manages, the company greatly reduced the inefficiencies associated with working with multiple vendors. It significantly saved time and costs by eliminating the need to:

  • Pay yearly TMS licensing fees

  • Devote IT resources to operate and maintain a TMS

  • Upgrade software

  • Configure automated workflows

  • Update Translation Memories (TMs)

  • Maintain glossaries

The Lionbridge solution removed multiple tasks associated with a multi-vendor strategy and simplified the localization process to the following three easy steps:

  1. Submit content through Lionbridge connectors, never having to leave the applications employees work with daily.

  2. Check the status of the project.

  3. Review the quality of the work.

Lionbridge rolled out its platform within a week of the engagement. A dedicated onboarding team continued to work closely with the customer to fully understand and analyze the company’s translation needs across various content types, develop multiple integrations, and fully personalize the solution to meet specific requirements, including utilizing Figma experts.
