New AI Content Creation Solutions for a Sports and Apparel Giant
In this installation of our Meet the Pride Series, travel to Costa Rica to meet Esteban B., a Senior Graphic Designer at Lionbridge. Aside from supporting Sales and Marketing with his skills, Esteban enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and working as a freelance artist.
I’m a Senior Graphic Designer on the GTM Design Team. We help internal departments like Sales and Marketing with presentations, videos, documents, and other visual assets to support anything from client meetings to events. In other words, we work with internal information to make sure it’s polished and presented well.
We work closely with Sales, which includes all the different verticals at Lionbridge — Life Sciences, Retail, Automotive, Games — so you never know what's coming next. One day, you’re working on an eLearning presentation, and the next, you’re doing a special video for a Global Town Hall. It’s hard to get bored when you’re learning something new about the company every day. I never knew Lionbridge had so many clients in different industries. It’s really interesting!
What I enjoy most is working with Games. Not only is our Games sector really busy, but I have a personal connection to gaming that makes the work that much more exciting. Creating a client presentation for a studio I know and love is a bit of a full-circle moment for me. I also recently had the opportunity to create illustrations for Lionbridge Games' branding, which was a cool experience. I can’t wait for everyone to see them!
No two days are the same, but my schedule looks something like this: I start at 8 a.m. First, I check my planner to see what tasks I’ve got on my plate. It’s usually a lot, so I chat with my manager to prioritize projects so we can knock out the most urgent ones first. Sometimes, we need more context or information to complete a project, so I'll consult with the team that submitted the request and fill in the gaps. Then, it’s work, work, work!
After I finish a project, I’ll present it to the requestor. Sometimes, they ask for modifications, so if that happens, I make adjustments before turning over the final version. Since the design process involves a lot of communication, I've developed solid relationships with teams that we frequently work with. It’s really nice.
I’ve been with Lionbridge since November 2021. Because I work with Sales, I’ve seen firsthand how the company has grown. I see new logos, revenue reports, and all sorts of information about the company’s progress.
Since I started, we’ve seen growth in a lot of areas, but Games, in particular, has really exploded. The gaming industry has seen exponential growth, and we’ve been right there, growing alongside it. Every year, we get new studios, more work, and more complex projects.
I’m really grateful for this aspect of my job — I consider it a privilege that I can stay informed so easily. I get to see all the reports, briefs, and presentations, which helps me appreciate the work that our company does and how much we’ve evolved in the past few years. It’s a good position to be in.
I'm from Costa Rica, and I absolutely love my country. Like anywhere else, we’ve got our issues, but the freedom and the amazing weather we enjoy make it all worth it. We have beaches, mountains, and volcanoes; the food is amazing, and the people are kind.
Life here is pretty laid-back. We work hard, but we also really value our time and well-being. The general vibe is all about being happy and enjoying life. There's so much to be grateful for, and people here really feel that. In fact, a magazine once called us the happiest people on Earth—and honestly, it makes sense. There's just this feeling in the air that everything will be okay.
The nature. We really have everything — mountains, beaches, volcanos, rainforests — and the wildlife is diverse, too. Costa Rica is like an entire little world.
In Costa Rica, we always say “Pura Vida,” which means “pure life” or “simple life,” but we often say it as a greeting, or just an expression of happiness, like “How’s it going?” or “I’m doing just fine.
Outside of work, I really enjoy spending time with my wife and our dogs. We love going on walks together. I’m also a big movie collector, so I watch a lot of films. My favorite movie is Blade Runner. Ridley Scott is my favorite director (fun fact: his wife is Costa Rican!). I love how intentional every part of that film is — the lighting, the movement, the camera positioning — it all feels so carefully crafted, which I can appreciate as an artist myself.
I also love video games. I’ve been playing games for over 35 years, so it’s tough to pick a favorite, but Street Fighter has a special place in my heart. It’s just such a timeless game. I can go back to it over and over and never get tired of it.
When I have the time, I also work as a freelance artist. Each illustration takes around 7 to 8 hours, which can be hard to balance with work, but drawing is like therapy for me. Once I start, I really zone in. There’s a blank page in front of you, and hours later, you’ve created something. Maybe it’s not a masterpiece, but you’ve made something from nothing, and that’s a pretty amazing feeling.
I think a lot of my inspiration comes from growing up surrounded by video games and art. I like to create dynamic work where people can look at the illustration and feel the energy, the movement, and the personality of the character.
Somebody told me once, “Your job is a gift. Take care of it”.
